James J. Tomasek, Ph.D. is David Ross Boyd Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Dean of the Graduate College. He earned his B.S. degree in a biology and chemistry at the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Albany. He did his postdoctoral research in the Department of Anatomy at Harvard Medical School and was an Assistant Professor at New York Medical College. He joined the faculty at OUHSC in 1988 in the Department of Anatomical Sciences. He has directed and taught Human Embryology for medical, dental, ultrasound and genetic counseling students, as well as numerous graduate courses. He has served as dissertation mentor for a number of doctoral students and mentored postdoctoral research fellows. His research is in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of wound healing and tissue contracture.
