Organizing a Barn Raising: Creating a Significant Learning Experience
Education Grand Rounds is pleased to present Dr. Dee Fink, former faculty member at the University of Oklahoma (1979-2005). Dr. Fink was the founding director of the OU Instructional Development Program in Norman, is the National Project Director for the Teaching & Curriculum Assessment Project, Senior Associate of Dee Fink & Associates Consulting Services and author of Creating Significant Learning Experiences (Jossey-Bass, 2003). He was also president of the POD Network (Professional and Organizational Development in Higher Education) from 2004-2005. While at OU, Dr. Fink was the OU recipient of the national teaching award presented by the American Association of Higher Education, the Jaime Escalante "Stand and Deliver" Award, April, 1989, as well as recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award, College of Liberal Studies, University of Oklahoma, 1992. During Dr. Fink’s presentation, participants will learn how to: 1. Formulate learning goals that are specific and go beyond “content” and simply application. 2. Create learning activities and assessment procedures for distinct learning goals. 3. Identify powerful learning strategies.
